A happy Camper is a well rested Camper
Hey Everyone,
I can't believe how fast the summer has gone and how busy it has been. This is the first chance I have had to use a computer since I last posted. We are over the halfway point in our summer traveling, and this past week was definitely the hardest. We were sent to Camp Patmos to help with one of their biggest junior weeks ever. There were over 300 kids there. It was a strange transition going from couseling Senior High kids to juniors. It was a frustrating and sometimes discouraging week, because most of the time I feel like I was just a disciplinarian to the kids. I don't think that most of them ever heard the word "no" from their parents before. It definitely was a week of faith. There was no amazing stories or moments of exreme joy, but a constant walk of faith, trusting that God was working for his glory although I could not see it. I look back at a difficult week, and I trust that God was accomplishing his perfect will.
This has been a time of life for me to really live by faith. Even when thing look like they are not going to plan, God is still working on his perfect plan. Pray that I will continue to keep that in mind and remember it is not about me or my exhaustion.

Niall,
It's good to hear from you. Camp can be one of the most exhausting experiences. I'm glad to hear that you are doing well and walking by faith. Faith is much needed in the oftimes sensational arena of Christian camping. I know from experience that it is easy to put our hope in great results at camp rather than a sovereign God, and then, when we don't see anything sensational, it is tempting to be disappointed. In retrospect, however, I am more disappointed in all the false conversions I witnessed and my own false "rededications" of "throwing my stick in the fire". We walk by faith and not by sight.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
