I just returned from an amazing conference. It was the ninth annual New Attitude Conference put on by Sovereign Grace. It is geared towards 18 and up singles and young married couples. We decided to try it out as a substitute for a leadership conference for our teens, and I have to say, it did not disappoint. We were priviledged to hear
Josh Harris on conformity,
Mark Dever on discerning Doctrine,
Al Mohler on culture,
John Piper on God's pleasure in Himself, and
C.J. Mahaney on overcoming idols of the heart among others. This was all surrounded with being led in worship by Bob Kaughlin and his sons, singing classic and modern hymns which exalted God and His justifying work of redemption with 3,000 other like-minded individuals.
I wrote a bunch more on my personal blog, but I just wanted to encourage all of you to think about this conference for yourselves and maybe the older students in your youth groups next year. You won't be disappointed.

Wow! Sounds wonderful. What Sovereign Grace songs did you hear that caught your attention? Are you familiar with Worship Together's Glory Revealed that was recently released? Very folky -- very Birkenstock -- very organic --very Granola [high on theological nutritional value]
Great to hear from you!

Sounds like a healthy, Christ-centered reprieve from the Law-mongering of...ahem...other teen leadership conferences.

Some great songs were, Surrender All, a new arrangement of Man of Sorrows, All Because of Jesus, and a song by Starfield called Great is the Lord. These were especially challenging to my soul. I had never heard of Starfield before, but several of the songs on their new album, Beauty in the Broken, seem like great worship tunes with solid lyrics. Maybe some good songs for the farewell TLC tour to combat the shallow teaching.

anyways, joe and i just went to a youth conference where Starfield led worship, in Chicago. they were excellent. as a result, we just started singing "I want to hold the hand that holds the world" as a worship song at our church. it's been well received.
